Dangote Refinery Begins Nationwide PMS Sales at ₦739 per Litre Through MRS Stations

Lagos — Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced nationwide sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a pump price of ₦739 per litre across all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations, in a move aimed at easing fuel costs and stabilising Nigeria’s downstream petroleum market.

The refinery said the initiative, which covers more than 2,000 MRS stations nationwide, is designed to ensure that the benefits of locally refined fuel reach consumers across the country. It described the rollout as a major milestone in its effort to provide affordable energy and support Nigeria’s economic recovery.

In a statement, Dangote Refinery commended MRS and other marketers that have complied with the new pricing regime, urging more operators to align with the reduced pump price.

“We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery,” the refinery said.

Festive Season Intervention

The launch comes at a time when the festive season is often marked by fuel scarcity and sharp price increases. Dangote Refinery said its intervention, backed by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres of PMS, is intended to prevent shortages and price volatility during the holiday period.

According to the company, large-scale local refining is helping to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported fuel, conserve foreign exchange, stabilise the naira, and strengthen national energy security. It added that the sustained price reduction and steady supply are expected to provide relief for households, businesses, and transport operators nationwide.

Warning Against Artificial Scarcity

The refinery also warned against attempts by unscrupulous operators to create artificial scarcity in response to the price reduction. It called on relevant government agencies and regulators to remain vigilant and take firm action against any supply manipulation.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable,” the statement said, adding that such practices should not be tolerated, especially during the festive period.

Call to Consumers and Marketers

Dangote Refinery urged consumers to avoid buying fuel at inflated prices when cheaper, locally refined alternatives are available. Nigerians were encouraged to report any MRS filling station selling PMS above the approved ₦739 per litre.

“We encourage Nigerians to avoid buying PMS at excessively high prices when they can access locally refined fuel at ₦739 per litre from over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide. Any MRS station selling above this price should be reported via 0800 123 5264,” the company said.

The refinery also called on other petrol station operators to patronise its products so that the benefits of the price reduction can be extended beyond MRS outlets, helping to create a more stable and competitive downstream market.

Commitment to Energy Security

Dangote Petroleum Refinery reaffirmed its commitment to steady supply, price moderation, and national energy security, stressing that its operations are guided by long-term national interest rather than short-term market pressures.

“Our objective remains clear: to ensure consistent supply of high-quality petroleum products at affordable prices for Nigerians, while supporting economic stability and reducing dependence on imports,” the refinery said.
