Fidelity Bank, Foremost Radiology Promote Early Breast Cancer Detection
The initiative features a health awareness webinar on October 16 and a breast screening outreach at Oyingbo Market, Lagos, on October 25.

Fidelity Bank Plc, in partnership with Foremost Radiology, has launched a breast cancer awareness campaign to encourage women to recognise potential warning signs of the disease, seek professional medical advice and prioritise early detection.
The initiative, implemented through HerFidelity, the bank’s women-focused proposition, forms part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month and seeks to promote informed decisions about breast health through education, medical evaluation and community outreach.
As part of the campaign, the partners are urging women to pay attention to unusual changes in their breasts, including lumps or thickening, changes in breast size or shape, alterations to the skin or nipple, and unusual nipple discharge.
They stressed that such changes do not necessarily indicate cancer but should be assessed promptly by qualified health professionals. Breast cancer may also occur without pain, making awareness of other possible warning signs important.
The campaign emphasises that early diagnosis, timely medical evaluation and access to appropriate treatment are critical to improving outcomes for people affected by the disease.
Under the theme, Beyond the Lump: The Role of Awareness and Imaging in Early Breast Cancer Detection, the initiative seeks to move breast cancer awareness beyond public campaigns and statistics by equipping women with practical information on recognising possible symptoms and seeking appropriate care.
A major component of the programme is a webinar scheduled for Friday, October 16, 2026, at 10 a.m. West African Time. The session will feature Dr Alabi, a consultant radiation and clinical oncologist, who is expected to discuss breast cancer, potential warning signs, medical imaging and the importance of timely professional assessment.
Participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions and obtain information to help them make informed decisions about their breast health.
The awareness campaign will subsequently extend to Oyingbo Market in Lagos, where HerFidelity is expected to conduct a breast health screening and awareness outreach on October 25, 2026.
The market outreach is designed to take breast health information closer to women in a busy commercial environment, particularly traders and other women whose daily business activities may make it difficult to prioritise preventive healthcare.
Through direct community engagement, the organisers hope to encourage women to pay attention to changes in their bodies, seek qualified medical advice when necessary and become more proactive about their health.
The campaign is anchored on the message, “Know, Check, Act,” which encourages women to understand their bodies, remain attentive to unusual changes and take appropriate steps by consulting healthcare professionals.
The partners said the objective was to promote awareness rather than fear, stressing the importance of replacing misconceptions and delayed responses with informed action.
The initiative also reflects Fidelity Bank’s broader approach to women’s empowerment through HerFidelity, which combines financial inclusion, entrepreneurship development, business education and health and wellness programmes.
The proposition was established to support women with access to finance, capacity building, business education, mentorship and networks that can help them establish and expand businesses.
Its funding initiatives target women seeking capital to grow their enterprises, while its business education and capacity-building programmes are intended to strengthen their knowledge and improve business management. Entrepreneurship support also provides opportunities for mentorship and professional development.
The health and wellness pillar recognises that women’s economic advancement is closely connected to their physical wellbeing and access to relevant information.
By partnering with Foremost Radiology on breast cancer awareness, the bank is extending its empowerment agenda beyond financial resources to include health education and preventive care.
The collaboration highlights the importance of considering women's wellbeing as part of a broader development agenda, particularly for women who combine business responsibilities with family and community obligations.
For women entrepreneurs and traders, health challenges can affect their ability to sustain businesses, earn income and meet household responsibilities. Access to credible health information and timely medical assessment can therefore form an important part of efforts to strengthen their overall wellbeing.
The October activities are expected to provide opportunities for women to learn more about breast cancer, ask questions and understand when to seek professional evaluation.
