Fidelity Bank FundHer Supports Akara Café’s Expansion with New Premium Brand
According to Akara Café, the expansion presented an opportunity to create a premium expression of its established brand but required a significant financial commitment, making access to appropriate financing crucial to the project.

Fidelity Bank Plc’s FundHer financing programme has supported the expansion of Akara Café, enabling the food business to develop Pavillon, its new premium sub-brand and latest outlet in Abuja.
The funding provided the business with additional capital to meet some of the costs associated with developing the new venture while preserving working capital for the continued operations of its existing business.
According to Akara Café, the expansion presented an opportunity to create a premium expression of its established brand but required a significant financial commitment, making access to appropriate financing crucial to the project.
The business explained that, like many growing enterprises, it needed to balance the investment required for expansion with the funds necessary to sustain its daily operations.
It said Fidelity Bank’s FundHer programme provided financial support at a critical stage of its growth, allowing it to pursue the opportunity without placing unnecessary pressure on its existing operations.
“Access to financing is not simply about receiving funds. It is about having the financial room to make strategic decisions, pursue opportunities and continue building without unnecessarily putting pressure on existing operations,” the business said.
The company noted that the financing helped provide the flexibility required to move from the planning stage to the development of Pavillon, which it described as a new chapter in the Akara Café brand’s growth journey.
Beyond the funding, Akara Café also commended the support it received throughout the process, particularly from its account manager, Racheal, whom it described as responsive and supportive.
According to the business, the account manager’s guidance helped make the financing process smoother at a time when several aspects of the expansion required attention.
Pavillon represents an effort by Akara Café to extend its brand into the premium market, creating new opportunities to serve customers through a different expression of its existing business.
The company said the new outlet was more than an additional location, describing it as a reflection of its ambition to grow, explore new possibilities and build on the foundation established by its original operations.
It added that developing the new venture required careful planning, investment and commitment, noting that timely access to financing had helped provide the capacity to take the important step.
Reflecting on the experience, Akara Café said business growth often resulted from a series of deliberate decisions rather than a single dramatic leap, with access to appropriate financial support helping entrepreneurs act when opportunities emerged.
The company expressed appreciation to Fidelity Bank for supporting its expansion through the FundHer programme, adding that its focus remained on growing the Akara Café brand, creating memorable customer experiences and exploring new business opportunities.
It described Pavillon as an important milestone in that journey, expressing optimism that the new venture would open further possibilities for the business.
Fidelity Bank’s FundHer initiative is designed to support women entrepreneurs with access to financing and other forms of business support. Programmes of this nature can help women-owned businesses overcome capital constraints, sustain existing operations and invest in expansion opportunities.
For small and medium-sized enterprises, access to funding remains an important consideration in business development, particularly where entrepreneurs must finance new products, locations or business models without disrupting established revenue-generating activities.
Akara Café’s expansion illustrates how targeted financing can help businesses pursue growth opportunities while maintaining the working capital required to keep their existing operations running.
