Thor Explorations Wins Diversity Champion Award at AIM Awards 2026
The company said the recognition reflected its commitment to building an inclusive organisation where employees from different nationalities, professional disciplines and cultural backgrounds can contribute to business growth and success.

Thor Explorations Ltd has won the Diversity Champion Award at the AIM Awards 2026 in recognition of its commitment to workplace inclusion, equal opportunities and the promotion of diverse perspectives across its operations.
The award recognises companies within the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) community that demonstrate leadership in equity and inclusion, with the organisers highlighting Thor Explorations’ approach to diversity across its executive leadership and field operations.
The company said the recognition reflected its commitment to building an inclusive organisation where employees from different nationalities, professional disciplines and cultural backgrounds can contribute to business growth and success.
Speaking on the award, Segun Lawson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Thor Explorations, expressed pride in the recognition, describing it as an endorsement of the company’s efforts to create a workplace where talent, ambition and hard work determine opportunities, irrespective of gender, nationality or background.
“I am immensely proud and honoured that Thor Explorations has been recognised with the Diversity Champion Award at this year's AIM Awards,” Lawson said.
He explained that the company’s strength lay in the quality of its workforce, the different perspectives employees brought to the organisation and the opportunities provided for them to develop their capabilities.
As an African-focused company, Lawson said, diversity remained particularly important to Thor Explorations, adding that he had consistently sought to build an organisation where employees could thrive based on their abilities and contributions.
According to him, the company’s approach to diversity goes beyond meeting targets or fulfilling formal requirements, focusing instead on establishing a workplace culture that reflects the communities in which it operates and empowers local talent.
“For me, championing diversity is not about meeting targets or ticking boxes; it is about building a culture that reflects the communities in which we operate, empowers local talent and gives everyone the chance to reach their full potential,” he said.
Lawson maintained that an inclusive workforce strengthened teamwork, improved collaboration and ultimately contributed to better business performance.
He added that the award was personally significant but emphasised that the achievement belonged to employees across the organisation whose daily contributions helped sustain the company’s values.
“This recognition means a great deal to me personally, but the real credit belongs to our people across the organisation who live these values every day. I could not be prouder of what we are building together,” he said.
The company also expressed appreciation to the AIM Awards organisers for the recognition and commended its employees for their continued contributions towards building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
The award places a spotlight on the role of workplace diversity in corporate performance, particularly for businesses operating across different cultural and professional environments. For companies with an African focus, such an approach can also provide an opportunity to strengthen local participation, develop talent and build relationships with the communities in which they operate.
Thor Explorations said its commitment to inclusion remained central to its organisational culture, with the award serving as recognition of the collective efforts of its workforce.
The company’s recognition at the AIM Awards 2026 underscores the growing importance of equity, inclusion and diversity as considerations in corporate leadership and organisational development.
